Great bang for your buck!

Great bang for your buck, absolutely love them. Hope to afford some higher end pads later.

Octopus of Connection Options

Excellent for a soft-pad, love the octopus of connectors so it will work well no matter the system. Seems pretty responsive and the cord length is perfect for a basic setup at home. Slides around a little on a wood floor, but that is easily solvable with a yoga or other foam mat.

Works great with Stepmania

Works great with Stepmania. But, wonky firmware requires workarounds on Linux. In particular this device's firmware has trouble being plugged in after a Linux machine boots and I had to write a udev rule to fix it:

ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{product}=="SKY2020", ATTRS{idVendor}=="054c", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0268", RUN+="/bin/sh -c \"echo suspend > /sys/bus/usb/devices/%k/power/level; echo on > /sys/bus/usb/devices/%k/power/level; sleep 0.5\""

Also, it doesn't pass the feature reports since it lies and says it is a Sony Playstation 3 controller and needs to have the hid_sony kernel module blacklisted.

After that it works great!

Fantastic quality

Fantastic quality; we have played multiple times a week for a few months now (with players of varying weights and intensity of tapping/stomping the arrow sensors) and it is perfectly responsive! So cool to be playing this game again!!

Great Modded!

I used a YouTube video to mod this soft pad to plywood with vinyl, staples, and tape. Works great! It was inside my budget, and let me play lots of ddr.

This is exactly what I wanted

This is exactly what I wanted. I wanted to get back into DDR as well as introduce it to my two daughters, this PAD is exactly what I wanted, and now I know it is exactly what I needed to start.

Holds up better than expected, but I'd get the more expensive harder pad if I did it again

So we've been using our pad for several months now, I was concerned it would quickly rip or the buttons wouldn't work, but surprisingly, it's doing fine, even after several uses by two large adults. We used free software to pair it up with Step Mania. I'm surprised at how well it works, given that it's just a soft pad.

It's convenient that it can be rolled up or packed away easily.

However, if I was buying again, I'd get a harder pad second time around. This one has a tendency to scrunch, especially if you're not wearing socks (I recommend wearing socks) and I have a feeling the game would just be easier to play if it didn't scrunch around so much as you are using it. Our pad is on a rug, I don't know if that's better or worse than hardwood for scrunching, I suspect better.

If 40 dollars is pushing your budget, this will work fine if you don't mind the scrunching. If you can afford a little more though, I'd go for a harder model than this one, especially if getting a good score is important to you.

We bought it to make getting some cardio more fun, which it definitely does, so we're not super concerned with the score, my only concern is if it gets my heart rate up, and it does that just fine, it excels, DDR is TOUGH! We play on easy, and we take turns with the one pad (my partner and I) and we're WIPED out after 30 minutes.

So overall, it's better made than I was expecting! -1 star for the scrunching, other than that, no complaints!
