I picked up two second-hand DDRGame iON metal (15-pin) dancepads that needed a lot of love. Unfortunately, the control boxes wouldn't work with Stepmania under any configuration. I tried a PS2 adapter, an original XBOX adapter, a powered USB hub, and many joystick-remapping software options.
However, this Stepmania control box was a plug-and-play fix. I was up and running in fewer than 2 minutes. Save yourself the tinkering time and just get these! They're made of high-quality materials and have an appropriate cable length.
This works with my Red Octane metal dance pad. The only thing I wish it had was the matching female thumb screw ends to match the Red Octane male ends.
The product listing has perfect instructions on identifying the game pad so that I bought the right one, and it worked perfectly. Just plug in and map the buttons. I'm so happy to have my game back!!
Works perfectly on my old TX 6000
Worked perfectly with my old Blueshark pad. My original control box would not work with my Windows 10 laptop and I didn't want to keep using my decade year old Windows 7 laptop I'd pulled from storage, so I looked around online and found this control box.
Windows 10 recognized it with no issues, and it worked perfectly in Stepmania.
